The opening film of the festival was American Cousins written by Southsider Sergio Casci.

TALKS AND INSIGHTS

Film goers enjoyed an introduction and post film Q and A session from the star of Crying with Laughter, Stephen McCole! There were many more intros / Q and As for American Cousins, Close, Fridge and the Forest of Black music videos

FILM MAKERS

The Southside Filmmakers Screening and Award was held on Sunday 15 May. Eight films were screened and the inaugural Southside Film Festival Award May 2011 was won by filmmakers Antonia Bain and Gordon Ballanytine with their short documentary about the cinema organ in Pollokshaws Burgh Hall.

UNIQUE VENUES

A special screening of Save Our Pool and Making Waves in Govanhill Baths was held as part of the Southside Film Festival to mark the 10th anniversary of the Govanhill Baths sit in and forced closure and to act as a fundraiser for the Govanhill Baths Trust.

CLASSIC FILMS

Screened in association with the Sherlock Holmes Society of Scotland, the Private Life of Sherlock Holmes is a 1970s classic co-written and directed by Billy Wilder.

CLOSING FILM

Nosferatu, the 1922 black and white silent horror classic was the closing film of the festival to a full house and with live organ accompaniment by Larry McGuire on the mighty Wurlitzer Organ at Pollokshaws Burgh Hall.

The inaugural Southside Film Festival in May 2011 was the first ever film festival south of the Clyde.
