The Self-Important Scotland Yarders are the only society dedicated to the memory of The Great Detective in Scotland. Formed last year, they comprise a varied group of around 20 Sherlock Holmes enthusiasts from all walks of life, mostly female perhaps surprisingly, all of whom share a love of Persian slippers, Giant Sumatran Rats, the art of Baritsu and The Woman. They meet once or twice a month to talk about the stories, dissect Watson's love life, show movies, argue the merits of Robert Downey Jr over Elie Norwood and drink beer.
If you fancy giving your inner Victorian a treat, get in touch with The Sherlock Holmes Society of Scotland on their Facebook page or at Young's Interesting Books, Skirving Street, Glasgow G41 3AA.
